It's Just A Drink | Harison Xavier

It's Just A Drink  My thoughts on a problem that we are facing for more than few thousand years. Yes, Alcohol. I am writing this to find where we can stand when it comes to drinking, and if we could find a middle ground. I am trying to come to a conclusion using the stories of few of my friends and from the books and experiences of people. You might have heard this before, "it's just a drink", "just this one drink", "this is the last one" , "One last peg" , "I am stopping this today".  I have seen many of my friends who say this, they all wanted to stop at some point, but they never did or never could. They all started drinking just for fun or relaxation. Relaxation from what? A few were going through a very tough time in their lives. I had my first taste of alcohol when I was very young at the age less than ten. My dad poured a bit in a glass and mixed it with a lot of water and told me to taste it. It was so bitter. Yuck! We h...

Will We Ever Learn? | A Covid 19 concern | Harison Xavier

I wrote the above title about  three months ago and now it is September. I didn't want to write about it because  something tells me this is just the tip of the iceberg. Yes. this is a rant on things that could have been done before in the past effectively. Yet for some reasons we didn't do it.  I wanted to reach out to people and make them understand how serious the situation is.  I know most people are perfectly heathy and they will not die due to Corona. Yet we can't risk loosing our older generation to this disaster, that should not happen due to our irresponsibility. For the past 6 months I am spending my days in a room alone away from friends and family, I definitely want to see my family and be with them but due to many reason I don't want to go there at this time also on top of that I may risk bringing Corona to my home. I don't want to do that. I have done enough.  Recently I read an article by Muralee Thummarukudy, he is the Chief of Disaster Ri...

Failed | Harison Xavier

Failed Failed ? Again ?  You crying? Isn't it your normal day? Haven't you learned the lesson yet?  Some are born to Win. Others to loose Like the ocean who tries to conquer the world. Keep trying all your life. Someday you will win. Isn't failure your bestfriend? The Only friend?  Get used to it. It is your normal.   Thirty years of failure didn't teach you that? You are not special. You are not entitled to anything You are nobody. You are zero. This world is for the fit and smart. There are billions who fail and one who wins. Try another million times, you will win last one. Pick yourself up. The time is ticking. A million more left. A few more seconds left.  Life is tough. Get tough.  You are a shame to the family. Others don't care. Pick yourself up. The time is ticking. A million try left. A few seconds left.  By Harison Xavier.

A Human | Harison Xavier

Credits: The movie: Shutter Island           If you have watched the movie Shutter Island, you might have seen the above shot of a board that is kept at the cemetery which reads  "Remember us for we too have lived, loved and laughed" . I always wanted to know who came up with that. This sentence touched me, I feel like there is something more than just those words in this sentence. I see a whole life of a human being.           I am writing this blog post in memory of a not so known soul in my home town. It is about Sebastian. We don't even have a good picture of him. He was a gardener, construction worker, garbage collector and so and so he did all kinds of jobs. He didn't have much friends. He didn't have that fancy career. He didn't even have a regular income. Everyone in our home town knew him yet he was invisible.  "Is there any work chetta (big brother) ? " Not now.... We will reply  "Seri chetta ....(okay ...

Silent Artist | Harison Xavier

Image Credit Artist : A.Fairy  Introduction   I have a great love for art, I don't know why but I love to stare at paintings for a long time. I wish to know the meaning behind every art and see the story but my primary school art teacher Shajee Chelad   said that " the aim of an art or an artist is not to tell the meaning or the story, it is to showcase a medium where the viewer can visualize his or her own story by themselves. The story the artist see will not be the same as the story the viewer have. "  His words made a great difference in the way I viewed art.            The freedom of an art. A single art with explanations that are multidimensional.  The same picture or painting that have so many stories to say. Is there something like this that can say multiple stories at a single time?  I always tried to draw and paint pictures and it all ended up ugly, I will need more practice. I forgot most of the things Shajee si...

Artificial Intelligence : The Sleeping Dragon

Image
If you have read my previous post related to  Artificial Intelligence : Our Future  ,  20 Predictions For The Future  and  20 Predictions For The Future  Part 2 , you will see that I am having a highly positive outlook toward our future. I wrote it that way because I like to see the positive side of things all the time and then examine the negative side. There is always a negative side for everything.    There is a sleeping dragon behind innovations. It is important that we are aware of it and never wake him up. The dragon must not be disturbed or be in the hands of evil.   In this post, I will be diving deep down on the negative sides of artificial intelligence and our future. However I wish that the following will never happen or ...

50 Naked Men | Harison Xavier

A memory I got from a care home for mentally challenged people  2010-2011 One Sunday, me and my friends sitting at our Sunday school class room talking about how hard have life been in the past 2 years and how hard it is going to be as we are approaching our higher secondary exams and we have to study twice harder as our future depends on it. I can see them worried about the exam, so was I. Sister Tessina came in and we greeted her, before beginning the class she told us the church is conducting a one day program, a visit to a home for mentally challenged people.  Nobody is interested, it is the end of our school years and our exams our at our door steps, we have to study hard each and every waking ours. There is one guy who brought his chemistry text to book to Sunday class so that he can learn something when ever he get time in between. I don't blame anyone for not having the interest, we are all worried about our exams. We all see our higher secondary ex...

Goat Days (Aadujeevitham) by Benyamin | Harison Xavier

Image
Book Cover   This is not a book review, I want to share what I learned from the book Goat Days  written by Benyamin . I was not interested in novels or stories. Novels had a bad vibe when I was a kid. I have heard elders saying that if you read novels, you will fail in life, they were talking about the weekly magazine novels. Somehow "novel equals failure" got recorded in my mind. So I would mostly concentrate on non fictions.  I came across the book Goat Days "Aadujeevitham" back in 2013, when one of my friend brought it to our room. He told me it is a true story of  life of  a man named Najeeb Muhammed,  emigrant gone to work in Saudi Arabia. Najeeb's dream was to work in the Persian Gulf states and earn enough money to send back home. But, life took a U-turn when he reached Saudi Arabia, he was forced into salve labor by a brutal master  and  the story goes by a series of incidents into a slave like existence herding goats i...
