I am not a fortune teller

This blog would be a part II of my recent post Artificial Intelligence : Our future , my thoughts are going into every subjects and I want to organize my thoughts into writing so that I could figure it out what am I actually thinking. The following predictions could happen in next 30 to 50 years or even early. These predictions maybe too dreamy and unrealistic, however my question is what is really realistic about life we have now, we have cars that don't need drivers, robots that are deployed in moon and mars that are controlled from earth. Humans around the world fly. These are the things that were unrealistic hundred years ago. So let me get to the topic, and I want to inform you that I am not a fortune teller, and the content I share here may or may not happen in the future. The following are a few of my thoughts on how our future will shape. I am expecting even more incredible future in the next 50 years.

1. Universal Basic Income

All humans will be getting universal basic income to their accounts. This would be for the people regardless of their gender, income, employment status, family structure, contribution to society, housing costs, or anything else . People who cannot work and who do not want to work, it will help them with their day to day expenses, thus eradicating poverty and homelessness from the face of the earth.

For people who wish to earn more money or who are willing to work they still can earn by contributing their talents, services and skills to the country. The extra money they earn could be used for entertainment, or self actualization.

Pilots have run in Canada, the Netherlands, Scotland, and Iran. Since 2017, the startup incubator Y Combinator has funded a multiyear pilot in Oakland, California. The municipal government of Stockton, an ag-industrial city east of San Francisco, is about to test a program that gives low-income residents five hundred dollars a month. Last year, Stanford launched a Basic Income Lab to pursue, as it were, basic research.             We are at an early stage of basic income and we still need more data to find how successful it will be on the long run.

2. Digital Currency

Four Assorted Cryptocurrency Coins

I heard the term Bitcoin in the year 2016, I just made a research on it and I found it so mind blowing, this was a great concept that made me research about it for months. At the time as I remember bitcoin cost about 27000 Indian rupees. I wanted to get a few bitcoins badly, I searched and found that there is two ways to earn them, by mining or by cash. I don't have that much money to buy it, however I am willing to mine bitcoins, the barrier was the mining hardware is not easily available nor cheap. I was sad and all I could do is watch it grow right to new highest. In a year or two, everybody started talking about it, experts started appearing from nowhere. Now at this moment cryptocurrency is banned in India.
However this is not the end, One find day this is all change. We would be using digital currencies for our transactions and there even maybe a system where we will not need money, as everything is taken care of by the technology and A.I. As bitcoins and other digital currencies are highly volatile right now, there would be a time when digital currency could be regulated and made less volatile.

3. Free Healthcare

Most advanced healthcare will be accessible to people of all ages for free or with minimal expense, which also would be covered by the Universal income. Based on the medical history recorded on the system, and with the help of technologies like IBM Watson easy and fast diagnosis and recovery will be guaranteed. With the help of AI, we will be able to find new drugs that can cure any diseases and kill any virus. Thus it will help increase our life expectancy.   Most diagnosis will be done with the help of technology and as we are humans, since we value human interactions, consulting a human doctor may become a luxury.

4. Safe Roads

Approximately 1.35 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,700 people lose their lives every day on the roads. Can we save those precious lives? Answer is Yes, we can. How? Give the driving wheel to the A.Is, as humans are busy with their own world, driving is an obstacle between you and things that matter so better give that job to more dedicated careful people.

I understand you are a great driver, but not others everyday there are people in a hurry to reach home, office, hospital. People driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. People who drive while on phone or texting, speaking to the people behind them - the most common once.

Let me not hurt your ego, you are good in multitasking, but let us not prove it on the streets, people are basically lazy and careless. And driving is an obstacle. We will need more self drive vehicles for people like these.             Another solution for the traffic we experience today is underground road systems. The below videos is from The Boring Company, who is on a mission to build underground subway like systems for cars. This is a great solution for the traffic problem we are facing today.

5. Agricultural Industry

Tractor, Vehicle, Tractors, Agricultural Machine

In not so distant future, most of the farm fields will be operated by robots or A.I controlled vehicles. It is already happening, John Deere already have tested and produced autonomous tractors that are controlled by the A.I and GPS. They are also bringing in electric tractors too.

Not just agriculture, it includes livestock using A.I we will be able to monitor the  production output better, maintenance of shelters, feeding one time with the right amount, avoiding wastage and produce high quality livestock.

6. Manufacturing

Manufacturing industry is no new space to automation, currently at least  10 % of the total jobs in the manufacturing industry is automated. Giant and small robots work faster without a single break in manufacturing industries these days, they help in the consistency of quality products.

In the future almost all jobs will be replaced, currently manufacturing sector is making a shit to smart manufacturing where almost everything is controlled by cloud Industrial  Internet of Things.
All systems and operations will be controlled remotely, even logistics of this sector will be controlled, orders for manufacturing parts from vendors will done by the system. This will help in less wastage and error, predictive maintenance, low down time between maintenance and so on.

One fine day when a customer orders an item, it will be delivered directly from the manufacturing plant without any middleman withing a few days.

7. Government

bird's-eye view of sitting on bench while discussion

I remember an old joke, two jobless youth was sitting idle at the bank of a river, one said to the other, " I want to take a leave, once I get a government job."

In Indian perspective, most youths go into government jobs believing it is very easy and the future is secure for ever. Once they get a government job, they become lazy and they skip and postpone most of their jobs.  Anyone who have went to an India government office will know how rude and lazy they can be and how many time you will need to go back and forth for even the most simple issues.
I am not telling at all government employees are lazy, but predominantly it is very hard to get things done from a government office in India.

Most jobs in the government can be automated, with less interaction from the people who work for the government, bribery and other corrections can be reduced. .

If the government is open to a change, A.I could revolutionize the support to the public from the government, people will be able to solve their problems and needs faster and efficiently . As we take away our lazy government employees, bureaucracy will be a blessing to the people. A efficient, well run government and satisfied citizens.

8. Fashion

Future of Fashion - From Sustainability to AR Couture and AI ...
3D printing - the Fashion Future - Miro Door

Soon we  will be downloading your favorite outfit. Yes. Downloading. With the invention of 3D printing, we are now able to 3D print objects of any shape and size. We will be 3D printing our dresses too.

Everyone will be unique, everyone will be looking for individuality, people will love to make a fashion statement of their own, the dress will be designed and will be made a perfect fit for each one of us.

9. Jobs

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs | Simply Psychology

As mentioned above on basic income, all people will be covered up to their physiological and safety needs. For people who wish to climb the ladder up to self - actualization, can contribute their skills, services and talent.

There will be still a great amount of jobs available. I remember their was a protest in my state, against the introduction of  desktop computers in government offices. It was a very long time ago. People where scared of this big box that sat on the table. They believed it will take away all the jobs. What actually happened was it created new jobs and better ones life for all.

Just like this we would have better jobs and opportunities to work.

10. Family

People Standing in Front of Wood Pile

We will still  have better quality family time. What are the obstacles for a quality family time?
Jobs, time spend in traffic, travelling between offices, shopping and home, mobile phones and television, financial problems.

As most of these problems are taken care of and if people decide to ditch their phone and TV. This would be a great opportunity to spend more quality time with family. As we are social animals we love to be with our family and friends. Family and friends make our lives meaning full. One of the longest research by Harvard. This 75-year-old study on adult development, gives us a lesson  how to live a happy life?

The answer is Family. The people who spent good quality time with their family and friends had a healthier, happier and longer life. Sad thing is lonely people die early. Once our society is self sustainable we will be able to have more time with family and friends, this is key to our future.

If you are interested in knowing more about the Harvard study, you could watch it on the video below.

Conclusion

As you may have observed this post was mostly positive,  I made it that way because I wish to see a very positive future for all of humanity. "Thoughts are things".  I will stop this post with 10 predictions here, I see there are even more things to discuss, which will be on my next post. I am aware of the risk and concern people have regarding artificial intelligence, about that I will be posting in the coming blogs too.

Our future is coming, change is inevitable, let us vision for a greater future, a better and happy future for all.
Thank you.
