A Human | Harison Xavier

If you have watched the movie Shutter Island, you might have seen the above shot of a board that is kept at the cemetery which reads "Remember us for we too have lived, loved and laughed". I always wanted to know who came up with that. This sentence touched me, I feel like there is something more than just those words in this sentence. I see a whole life of a human being.
I am writing this blog post in memory of a not so known soul in my home town. It is about Sebastian. We don't even have a good picture of him. He was a gardener, construction worker, garbage collector and so and so he did all kinds of jobs. He didn't have much friends. He didn't have that fancy career. He didn't even have a regular income. Everyone in our home town knew him yet he was invisible.
"Is there any work chetta (big brother) ? "
Not now.... We will reply "Seri chetta ....(okay big brother)" he will respond.
No worries, no complaints.
There was a man on the bank of the river who asked this question.
A man we looked at with disgust, a man who removed the rubbish from the town with his bare hands. A man who worked as a slave for someone for his meal.
He lived for his family. He lived for his kids, and now he is gone.
He is no more. His life was like garbage can.
Now his body was gone and hidden. Now the worms are fighting for his remains.
Remember: - Once again, the thing we need to understand is that we do not hesitate to trample down even other in this race for power, position and money. All our life we run behind things that doesn't matter to us in the end.
"The naked truth is that each and every one of us will be gone like this tomorrow." We will be forgotten. All we have is "now". That's life. (I am just trying to come to terms with this truth too.)
hmmm.... Is life a meaningless game?
