Artificial Intelligence : The Sleeping Dragon

Image
If you have read my previous post related to  Artificial Intelligence : Our Future  ,  20 Predictions For The Future  and  20 Predictions For The Future  Part 2 , you will see that I am having a highly positive outlook toward our future. I wrote it that way because I like to see the positive side of things all the time and then examine the negative side. There is always a negative side for everything.    There is a sleeping dragon behind innovations. It is important that we are aware of it and never wake him up. The dragon must not be disturbed or be in the hands of evil.   In this post, I will be diving deep down on the negative sides of artificial intelligence and our future. However I wish that the following will never happen or ...

Be Like Wera : Leadership Lesson From Ryanair Customer Service Manager | Harison Xavier

Image
A Day Of A Ryanair Customer Service Manager I am fortunate to meet Wera, who is a customer service manager at Ryanair in Europe. ( Due to privacy reasons I will not be mentioning the place where this occurred. )   Don't know why but we became good friends in a few days. We talked about our interests, our family, the difference in our culture and so on. One fine day, the topic of our discussion was about work life and she mentioned how tough her day could get and the incidents that happen at her work. Talking to her I could see she is a leader. I asked her to explain about her work in detail so that I could learn few leadership lessons. She replied she is no leader, she just love to help people to her best as possible . The following is our conversation about her day in her job and an incident that happen. The Beginning In her own words : It was an extremely hard day for us, as I have been working for 5 year at the airport I haven't seen such bad weather, the fog covered...

Goat Days (Aadujeevitham) by Benyamin | Harison Xavier

Image
Book Cover   This is not a book review, I want to share what I learned from the book Goat Days  written by Benyamin . I was not interested in novels or stories. Novels had a bad vibe when I was a kid. I have heard elders saying that if you read novels, you will fail in life, they were talking about the weekly magazine novels. Somehow "novel equals failure" got recorded in my mind. So I would mostly concentrate on non fictions.  I came across the book Goat Days "Aadujeevitham" back in 2013, when one of my friend brought it to our room. He told me it is a true story of  life of  a man named Najeeb Muhammed,  emigrant gone to work in Saudi Arabia. Najeeb's dream was to work in the Persian Gulf states and earn enough money to send back home. But, life took a U-turn when he reached Saudi Arabia, he was forced into salve labor by a brutal master  and  the story goes by a series of incidents into a slave like existence herding goats i...

Minotaur : A short story | Harison Xavier

Prologue One of the most entertaining person in my office was Ponnus, she was the most energetic of all of us. She always had something to talk about, cracks jokes, makes fun of others, acts like a baby all the time, often very bold in her talks. I never understood her but I would say  I was very lucky to be her colleague, it was so much fun to work with her. She always told me to have some fun in life and don't take life so seriously.  One fine day the topic of discussion during our free time at the office was ghosts and paranormal experiences, I love to listen to these stories. Of course it was she who brought this up and everyone wanted to listen to her story. I could see the interest and curiosity in everyone's eye when she tells the story. The Men's Hostel  One of her close friend Jeet, is working in a multi national company in  Bangalore. He worked in night shifts. His shift starts at 10:00 pm. He recently moved to a new men's hostel little far away from the ci...

They Are Humans Too | Harison Xavier

Image
As usual I wish to keep this blog short, simple and sweet, but if you have read the other blogs you will know even this one will be very long.                              Recently I had an interesting conversation with a friend (who I cannot name for security reasons) who works at Ryanair , as a customer relations manager. I asked her how tough the job is?      Her answer was as every job this also has pros and cons. There are no two same days, every day includes different people, different problems, etc. There are some days when work is extremely hard - especially when we had a lot of cancellations because of weather. Sometimes people want to beat her, piquing is a normality in this work. At the beginning of the work she had a lot of sympathy to passengers but when she hear for the 1000 time the same story she just couldn't believe in people's stu...

I am not a fortune teller This blog would be a part II of my recent post Artificial Intelligence : Our future , my thoughts are going into every subjects and I want to organize my thoughts into writing so that I could figure it out what am I actually thinking. The following predictions could happen in next 30 to 50 years or even early. These predictions maybe too dreamy and unrealistic, however my question is what is really realistic about life we have now, we have cars that don't need drivers, robots that are deployed in moon and mars that are controlled from earth. Humans around the world fly. These are the things that were unrealistic hundred years ago. So let me get to the topic, and I want to inform you that I am not a fortune teller, and the content I share here may or may not happen in the future. The following are a few of my thoughts on how our future will shape. I am expecting even more incredible future in the next 50 years. 1. Universal Basic Income    ...
