Will Meet Soon Bro
We will meet soon bro... Sid texted.
Jim knew that will be the last time he will hear from him. It happens again, another friend is moving away. Now Jim will have more time alone in the dark. Made good memories, traveled together. Lived moments together. Jim had a great time with his friends including Sid. They all dreamed that one day they all will be stetted in this huge metropolitan city, Everdrive. They walked these streets together and enjoyed the time. Jim remember once Sid pointed out to a skyscraper and said Bro, you see that corner office on that 43rd floor, that will be my office in next 2 years.
Two years went by and Sid is moving way, life is unpredictable. Jim tried to think about the last time he saw him. Jim dearly wished if he could be with his friends and just sit together and talk, he wanted to experience that sense of belonging to a team. Before moving Sid had borrowed money from Jim and never returned, Jim didn't ask the money back, so did Neil, before he left Everdrive. Everyone owes Jim some money and nobody returned. Jim might be testing their honestly, or this would be a way to avoid them asking him more money in the future. Now all he said was in a text "Will meet soon bro" what a convenient lie, they both knew this will be the last time, Sid have no intention to come back and he is going abroad and will be settled there. Jim knew this from Neil.
They all met in college, they studied together and they worked and lived in Everdrive. The super-fast magnificent city made them dream big. Jim worked all day everyday non stop, he was saving for the future and forgot to make any new friends, Sid and Neil were great with people and they made friends all the time, this made them forget about Jim. Jim became more and more invisible as time passed. Later on Sid and Neil got into different cool groups and went on separate ways for a while, anytime they come together all they talk is the awesome moments they had with their own "cool groups".
The few moments with his friends was Jim's only memories of belonging and happiness. Jim texted another mutual friend Luke, he didn't reply for 2 days, then he replied he was busy with work and didn't see Jim's message. Jim wanted to catch up with Luke and talk a bit longer, but Luke is busy and don't have any time to spare.
Jim often tried making friends at his work place but they never made a good connection to him, he meet a lot of one time co-workers but he is not able to make a single friend. Once he desperately tried talking to a co-worker and asked if he would like to go to the football game that weekend as the co-worker liked football. The co-worker declined as he have errands to run that weekend. Another time with a different co worker he asked if he could join him to his friends party, that was declined too. Another time he asked a group of co workers if he could join them for a beach trip, they said the car they are travelling is too small to fit everyone.
Days went by, Jim got used to the isolation in a busy city. Jim got into new habits, went to the gym often, started reading a lot, walked in the park, took more time off work. Jim started forgetting his friends and the moments, life went by one day at a time. Jim is happy alone even if he couldn't make any friends. He still try making friends yet they all end the conversation saying "Will meet soon bro...."
