All Those People At Rest | Harison Xavier

Dear Herbert Fingarette, I know you are long gone. I just wanted to say thank you for your lessons on life. I was moved by your story from the video. It would have been a privilege for all those students who had a chance to attend your class. All those lessons learned and all the lessons that you have not taught, I hope you had a great life on earth. I hope we treated you with love and compassion. I remember what you said in the video about death.
" In a nutshell, there's no reason to be afraid or concerned or anything about death because when you die, there's nothing. You're not going to suffer. You're not going to be unhappy. You're not going to...Well, you just... you are not going to be. "
I wanted to ask a lot more but you are gone. Is death so simple? Just like a machine which stopped working? I wonder whom should I ask this about?
There was a lot to learn from you and we lost that opportunity. Another point that you have mentioned and I quota " I mean, at a certain point, there's nothing. So it's not rational to be afraid of death. I now think that is not a good statement. Because... I think it's important to figure out.. why it is then that people are afraid of death."

So my question again would be is life so meaningless? That's it and there is nothing more after death? All my life I learned that there is an afterlife and we will reach eternal happiness after our death. It is sad for me to face this. All my life I have been a failure, embarrassment to my family and suffering without meaning. The one good thing that kept me going was the belief after my death I would find happiness.
Now, I will need to rethink again. I need to find a way to come to terms with whatever happens.
Professor Herbert Fingarette thank you. It was a pleasure to learn a few thoughts from you.
I often think about all the people that passed away, they have taken all the secrets with them. They might have hidden a lot of treasures in their brain. Yet for some reasons they were afraid to tell us what they think.
Once I heard the cemetery is the richest place on earth, It have all the ideas and solutions to change the world. Just that we can't retrieve it. We didn't give them an opportunity to share their thoughts.
